New route for Sachtleben Water Chemicals
Duisburg, July 1, 2008The upcoming Joint Venture between Sachtleben and Finnish company Kemira Oyj's pigment division also has implications for Sachtleben's Water Chemistry Business Unit in Duisburg and Ibbenbüren (EKOKEMI), and for MIWAC, in Schwarzheide.
Sachtleben concepts based on polyaluminium chlorides have been indispensable components in both water and waste-water treatment and in the paper industry for more than thirty years. From July 1, 2008 onward, this successful team will form two new and independent companies, Sachtleben Wasserchemie GmbH and Sachtleben Wasserchemie-MIWAC GmbH. Hiving-out from the Sachtleben group of companies has become necessary, since the Joint Venture covers only the two companies' pigment production. In addition, under the previously prevailing legal framework, both Sachtleben and Kemira were active in the water-chemicals segment and would then have become part-owners of a joint company and, at the same time, competitors on the same market.
Formal separation for antitrust law reasons will thus take on a specific shape with a new logo and a different mode of integration within the Rockwood group as from July 1, 2008. In future, Sachtleben Wasserchemie GmbH and Sachtleben Wasserchemie-MIWAC GmbH will be grouped under Rockwood Clay-based Additives. The company plays with its additives a highly active role in the refinement of high-quality paper products and specialities. Sachtleben Wasserchemie, a renowned producer of speciality chemicals for paper production, waste-water treatment and drinking-water preparation, and also for the combating of odour-nuisance from sulfur-containing waste-water, will be positioned here in an optimum economic environment.
Despite these "superficial" changes as from July 1, Sachtleben Wasserchemie will continue its course of innovation and continuity in chemicals for water management. The directors of the newly founded companies are, in the case of Sachtleben Wasserchemie, Heinz Marotzki and Hans-Jürgen Wienke, and, in the case of Sachtleben Wasserchemie-MIWAC, Heinz Marotzki and Hans-Jürgen Schöbel. These gentlemen have held the reins in water chemicals for many years and remain your trusted and familiar contacts both in the context of the technical and process-engineering service team and at the Service Centers. In addition, the three locations of Duisburg, Ibbenbüren and Schwarzheide also remain the guarantee of local presence, perfect logistics and absolute assuredness of supply.
