Duisburg 2010: Sachtleben's scintillating river frontage strongly featured on "Port of the Culture Capital“ poster

Duisburg, vital city on the Rhine and the world's largest inland harbour, is highlighted in 2010 as the "Port of the European Capital of Culture". Along with Essen, Bochum, Oberhausen and Dortmund, Duisburg is one of the five gateway cities to the "Metropole Ruhr" conurbation. To publicize the vast range of aquatic events taking place on the Rhine and Ruhr rivers, the City of Duisburg has commissioned a large-format poster on which the starkly imposing "Rheinorange" sculpture is seen rising majestically in the foreground, symbolizing the city's industrial heritage and its renowned harbour, set against a scintillating late-evening view of Sachtleben's Rhine frontage.
