Anti-blocking concept for transparent films
An innovative concept has enabled Sachtleben to go beyond the up to now restricted bandwidth of high-quality transparent films and open up totally new potentials. An innovative anti-blocking additive for transparent polyester films now means that the surfaces of bi-axially expanded films can be textured with greater control, more homogeneously and at a smaller scale than has been possible up to now using conventional silica solutions. The special attraction of this new product is that it gives the user significant - and market-relevant - added value. What initially appears, under the microscope, merely to be the difference between coarse and fine "ingrain" (or wood-chip) wallpaper above all optimizes film performance in terms, particularly, of gloss and transparency. The high-gloss and greater transparency of films treated with the new anti-blocking-particles are the result of comparatively simple chemical and physical principles: a refractive index extremely similar to that of the polymer, a controlled and extremely narrow particle-size distribution and precisely adjusted and uniform distribution of the particles in the polymer matrix.Contact
